Description and research notes
Issued one-dollar note from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, dated 2018 and printed by Thomas De La Rue (TDLR).
This early printing of the 2018 series originally appeared as an unlisted variety before it was catalogued under Pick 38 in later references. It carries serial number prefix D/6 and features the same design as subsequent printings — Queen Elizabeth II at right, reef fish vignette at lower left, and the national coat of arms at upper center.
Security features include a latent turtle image, electrotype 'CIMA' watermark, and an embedded security thread visible under transmitted light. The note is printed in blue-green hues representing the one-dollar denomination and is graded PMG 66 EPQ Gem Uncirculated.
This early-prefix example marks the transition between the earlier 2010s issues and the updated 2018 definitive series, making it of interest to specialists tracking serial prefix sequences and first-print variations within modern Caribbean monetary systems.
