Description and research notes
Issued half-dollar from the Central Bank of the Bahamas, first recorded by PMG as Pick Unlisted prior to its formal inclusion in the Pick catalogue. Printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire, this note carries the watermark of Queen Elizabeth II alongside the denomination '1/2', consistent with the broader CRISP Evolution Series launched in 2019.
The Bahamas introduced the CRISP (Counterfeit Resistant Integrated Security Product) series in the mid-2000s as part of an ongoing modernization of its currency. The 2019 issue marked the completion of the redesign, emphasizing polymer-style security elements, microtext, and color-shift features while retaining the national symbols and maritime themes that define Bahamian design.
This early printing, originally recorded as Pick Unlisted, represents the first iteration to enter the PMG census before the numbering system was updated. It provides a documented example of how numismatic cataloging evolves as new printings and revisions emerge, serving as a bridge between archival classification and formal publication in later Pick references.
