United States 1948 Republican National Convention engraved admission ticket with Benjamin Franklin portrait, Gate 2 Section J Row P Seat 13, Liberty Bell reverse, E.A. Wright Bank Note Co. Philadelphia

United States 1948 - Republican National Convention Ticket Philadelphia, E.A. Wright Bank Note Co.

Physically, the ticket consists of a main admission panel and two detachable coupons for sequential sessions, joined by precision-drilled perforations. Each coupon repeats the engraved border and typography, demonstrating Wright’s mastery of perforated securities-a process originally perfected for multi-part bank drafts and coupon bonds. The engraving is double-sided: on the reverse, a deeply inked green composition centers the Liberty Bell within interlaced medallions, accompanied by subsidiary guilloche panels carrying Wright’s imprint. This 'banknote back' echoes the anti-counterfeiting devices of U.S. currency and transforms a temporary event pass into a miniature work of applied engraving art. Read more →

The surrounding frame bears the inscriptions 'American Bank Note Company' and 'Specimen Note,' while the lower border substitutes the standard signatures with engraved placeholders labeled 'Treasurer' and 'President.'

United States 1872 State of South Carolina 20 Dollars Revenue Bond Scrip Columbia Act March 2 1872 PMG 66 EPQ Gem Uncirculated

United States 1872 – State of South Carolina $20 Revenue Bond Scrip Act of March 2 1872 Columbia Issue

The central vignette portrays Liberty presenting a laurel to an allegorical figure of South Carolina while a sailor and ship in the background evoke commerce and maritime trade. The state seal appears prominently in the center with the Latin motto 'Animis Opibusque Parati'-Prepared in Mind and Resources-encircled by flourishes of oak, palm, and rice. The numeral '20' is printed multiple times in both black and green, enhanced by a large green protector overprint, while the serial number '2583' appears in red. In the lower left, the bold Roman 'XX' denomination rests within a guilloche medallion, and to the right, an engraved portrait of a woman reading reinforces the domestic virtues that Reconstruction propaganda sought to associate with recovery and stability.

United States 1844 four dollars state bank note issued by the Bank of Florida in Tallahassee during its final revival, engraved by Rawdon Wright Hatch and Edson, New York payable, bearing official crosscut cancellation, graded PCGS 58 Choice About Uncirculated

United States 1844 - Bank of Florida - Tallahassee 4 Dollars, State Bank Note, Final Revival Issue, FL-65-G26

A distinctive regional motif appears within the lower vignette, where an alligator is depicted along the riverbank beneath an arched bridge and passing steam locomotive. The alligator functions as an explicit symbol of Florida’s natural environment and frontier identity, anchoring the note geographically in a manner uncommon among many antebellum bank issues. Its placement beneath imagery of rail transport and masonry infrastructure creates a deliberate contrast between untamed nature and emerging industrial order, visually reinforcing the tension between wilderness and development that characterized Florida Territory during the 1840s.
