New South Wales 1865 - Embossed 'ONE HALF PERCENT' Stamp Duty Fiscal Proof Specimen

Because these proofs were working approval materials rather than issued fiscal documents, most examples were destroyed after printing commenced. Surviving sheets that retain the printer’s blue framing guides and 'Specimen' designation provide rare documentation of the early stages of colonial security printing. Australia 1961 - Bank of New South Wales Sterling Travellers Cheques, Complete Printer’s Proof Set £2-£50 (Pick Unlisted)

Preserved intact, this set documents the final pre-decimal Sterling traveller’s cheque series prepared for the Bank of New South Wales immediately prior to Australia’s 1966 currency changeover. While isolated traveller’s cheque proofs occasionally survive, complete denomination sets with unified dates, control notes, and a clearly identifiable master approval sheet are virtually unknown. As a coherent archival object recording one approval workflow, this set constitutes a unique survival and a museum-grade record of mid-twentieth-century Australian security printing.

The design combines formal banking script with an elaborate vertical security panel carrying "BANK OF N.S.W." at the left and a large yellow-gold denomination underprint extending across the central field. The paper is surrounded by a pale blue border and carries a major security feature in the form of a large BANK OF NEW SOUTH WALES watermark accompanied by oversized ornamental watermark elements extending across much of the sheet.
