Poland 1940 500 Złotych Series B, unfinished print fragment with partial obverse and full reverse, PMG holdered

Poland 1940 - 500 Zlotych Series B Unfinished Print Fragment (Pick 98)

As surviving production material, the note offers an unusual view into the manufacture of Bank Emisyjny w Polsce currency during the Second World War. The relationship between the surviving Highlander watermark and the absent printed Highlander portrait adds a particularly clear visual record of what had and had not yet been completed. Combined with the otherwise undocumented 20xxxxx Series B numbering, it makes the note a significant research piece for reconstructing the production history of the 1940 500 złotych issue. Poland 1940 500 Złotych Series A with counterfeit numbering link, PMG 15

Poland 1940 - 500 Zlotych, Series A with Counterfeit Numbering Issued Note (Pick 98a)

During the German occupation, forged 500 złotych notes were produced in Britain for the Polish resistance and introduced into occupied Poland as part of a diversionary operation. The counterfeit currency provided funds that could be used within the occupation economy while simultaneously undermining confidence in German-controlled money. Once the affected numbering was identified, Series A notes in the 12xxxxx and 13xxxxx ranges were ordered withdrawn regardless of whether individual examples were genuine or counterfeit. The measure removed authentic notes alongside the forgeries and explains the exceptional scarcity of genuine survivors carrying these serials.

Poland 1940 20 Złotych Series N, WWII London Counterfeit, PMG 64

Poland 1940 - 20 Zlotych, Series N WWII London Counterfeit (Pick 95b)

Only two series are known to fall into this counterfeit-linked category, making authentic survivors extremely difficult to locate. This example, graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated, is an unusually high-grade representative of the type. The note displays excellent embossing, original surfaces, and vivid color, all preserved in a holder that formally notes the WWII LC attribution.
