Egypt 1927 - Italian Notarial & Consular Legalization Dossier

The present dossier is a rare complete survival. Most consular legalizations were separated into components and destroyed after internal filing cycles. Others lost their revenue adhesives, had their seals removed, or were trimmed down for bureaucratic reuse. Examples preserving full notarial content, multiple high-value Marca da Bollo adhesives, consular seals, tribunal validations, foreign-ministry confirmations, and complete manuscript entries across two intact pages are exceptionally scarce. This 1927 example is a museum-grade artifact documenting Italian civil law, interwar consular practice, and the cross-border administrative mechanisms linking Sicily and Egypt during the late Kingdom period. Paraguay 1907 - Banco de la República 5 Pesos with 1912 Dual-Side State and Treasury Revalidation Overprint (Pick Unlisted, Base Pick 156)

This does not mean that the note was immune from the economic pressure affecting ordinary paper money in Paraguay. Rather, the dual-side overprint shows a more precise and more defensible function. It separated selected, officially reviewed notes from the broader mass of paper obligations and created a stronger chain of public authority. The face overprint asserted state liability under the January 1912 law; the reverse overprint confirmed Treasury review under the May 1912 decree. Together, they created a higher-control instrument than the ordinary single-face overprint issue, cataloged as Pick 127 on the same Pick 156 base type.

United States 1872 – State of South Carolina $20 Revenue Bond Scrip Act of March 2 1872 Columbia Issue

The $20 Revenue Bond Scrip of the State of South Carolina, dated March 2, 1872, represents one of the most ornate and historically revealing fiscal issues of the Reconstruction era. Authorized by the Act of March 2, 1872, these notes were used by the state government to pay outstanding obligations and to serve as tax receipts during a period of severe post–Civil War financial strain. Printed by the American Bank Note Company in New York, the scrip combined fine engraving, symbolic imagery, and the technical artistry characteristic of the firm’s early 1870s production.
