Poland 1936 - 50 Zlotych Jan Henryk Dąbrowski (Pick 78a, Miłczak 77a–b)

Production was carried out at the Państwowa Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych in Warsaw. Technical direction was provided by Leon Barański, with artistic supervision by Wacław Borowski and engraving by Włodzimierz Vacek. The note combines offset printing with steel intaglio and features a multitone portrait watermark of Dąbrowski, regarded as one of the finest achievements of Polish papermaking in the interwar period. The 500 Denari banknote issued in 1996 forms part of the first modern currency series of the Republic of Macedonia following independence in 1991. Introduced by the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia as part of the country’s early monetary stabilization program, the series established the visual identity and security standards of the newly independent state’s paper currency. The printed structure reflects the full late-twentieth-century De La Rue production methodology. A multi-color offset background establishes the geometric and ornamental framework of the design, over which a finely engraved intaglio key plate provides the principal portrait and denomination elements. This layered printing process produces the raised tactile texture characteristic of intaglio engraving while preserving the color complexity achievable through offset lithography. Additional protective elements include a metallic security thread embedded within the paper, microtext inscriptions, a see-through register that aligns when the note is held to light, and intricate guilloche patterns engineered to resist photographic or digital reproduction.
