Uruguay 1939 - Banco de la Republica Oriental del Uruguay 500 Pesos Specimen Printed Cancel Serie C Specimen No. 10 (Pick 40bs)

The obverse cancellation system is intentionally emphatic. These markings do more than invalidate the note. They establish a visible chain of institutional authority, leaving no uncertainty about its reference status while preserving the underlying engraving for technical inspection. Read more →

Uruguay 1939 Banco de la Republica Oriental del Uruguay 500 pesos specimen, Pick 40as, Serie A, printed SPECIMEN overprint with De La Rue CANCELLED stamp and Specimen No. 29

Uruguay 1939 - Banco de la Republica Oriental del Uruguay 500 Pesos Specimen, Printed Cancel, Serie A, Specimen No. 29 (Pick 40as)

The printed number at the lower margin is central to the note's documentary character. Specimen No. 29 records the piece as an individually tracked example, allowing it to be associated with a specific position in the group prepared for official reference, institutional comparison, or controlled presentation. Such numbering transformed the specimen into an accountable object whose movement and retention could be supervised independently of the circulation issue.

Uruguay 1939 - Banco de la Republica Oriental del Uruguay 500 Pesos Specimen Printed Cancel Serie D Specimen No. 12 (Pick 40cs)

The printed designation Specimen No. 12 gives the note a precise place within its controlled sequence. Combined with the Serie D identification and paired all-zero serial numbers, it records an individually accountable example prepared under institutional procedures. The number is therefore part of the note's archival identity, not merely an additional printed marking.
