Italy 1871–1872 - Banca Italo-Germanica 250 Lire Specimen (Pick S976s)

An exceptional and academically important survival from the experimental phase of Italy’s early post-unification banking era, this 250 Lire specimen from the short-lived Banca Italo-Germanica, cataloged as Pick S976s, represents one of the rarest and most ambitious private note-issuing projects attempted in Rome during the 1870s. No issued examples of this type are known to exist, and all scholarship indicates that the bank’s banknote program collapsed before any notes entered circulation, leaving only a microscopic number of presentation pulls, proofs, or internal printer’s archive sheets. Australia 1965 - Commercial Banking Company of Sydney 20 Dollars Travellers Cheque Photographic Proof (Pick Unlisted)

Its position in the surviving approval trail is especially important. The related 20 Dollars colour design proof was submitted on 23 March 1965 and carries the left-margin review annotation referring to the 12 April 1965 letter. This photographic proof, dated 31 March 1965, shows that the denomination was already being examined within the printer's review process before the April correspondence stage. It is therefore one of the earliest surviving technical records of the 20 Dollars design, standing between the submitted proof and the later sequence of revision evidence preserved across the companion 50 Dollars photographic proofs. Its date places it at a precise and important point in the surviving approval trail. The 50 Dollars colour design proof was submitted on 23 March 1965 and carries the left-margin annotation referring to the 12 April 1965 letter. The 20 Dollars photographic proof is dated 31 March 1965. This 50 Dollars photographic proof, dated 1 April 1965, follows immediately after it, showing that both higher denominations were under active photographic review within days of the original March submission.
