Original 500 złotych note of 1 March 1940 issued by the Bank Emisyjny w Polsce, Series A, serial A 1319803. Although the banknote itself is genuine, its serial falls within the 13xxxxx numbering range later associated with diversionary forgeries of the 500 złotych denomination. Together with the 12xxxxx sequence, these numbers became compromised by the appearance of counterfeit notes, making A 1319803 an extremely rare surviving original from a range subsequently targeted for withdrawal. The obverse is dominated by the green underprint, with its guilloche work, background ornament and central 500 denomination device already established. The principal dark printed design was never applied, leaving absent the portrait, surrounding frames, inscriptions, date, signatures and other elements that define the completed obverse. Greece 1949 - Ministry of Foreign Affairs Certified Translation and Legalisation (Volos–Athens)

Affixed at the left margin are two vertical 100 Drachma Parakh Eisaktion consular revenue adhesives, printed in grey olive with classical Greek lettering and the numeral 100 in bold black. These adhesives represent the ministerial fee required for legalization of foreign service translations. Both stamps are fully tied to the document by large violet circular cancellations bearing the wording of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the date 22 June 1949, with cancellation strikes extending well into the surrounding paper. The alignment and clarity of these impressions confirm direct on-document application. Additional embossed and inked seal impressions are faintly visible beneath the red legalization block, consistent with Greek foreign service authentication practices of the late 1940s. Subtle typewriter impressions and light shadowing from the underlying Greek original remain visible beneath the English text, showing this was part of a multi-page physical case file. Read more →
