Description and research notes
Photographic proof of a Credit Form created for the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney Limited. Produced in London in 1929, the design shows the full title Commercial Banking Company of Sydney Limited supported by a portrait medallion at left and framed text panels used for financial authorization and remittance details.
The photographic process was used to capture the approved layout before engraving. This allowed the bank to confirm alignment, spacing, and border structure. The proof is mounted on original cardstock, a typical presentation format for archival reference pieces produced by London security printers.
These proofs document the design standards applied to high security financial documents including letters of credit, drafts, and formal exchange certificates. They also illustrate the link between Australian banking institutions and the London printing trade during the interwar period.
Certified PCGS 64 Very Choice New. The mounting and photographic texture confirm its archival and pre production purpose.
