Description and research notes

Back-side photographic proof of the ten francs note of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, dated July 3, 1966 as indicated on the grading holder, representing the finalized reverse layout prior to production. Printed in monochrome and mounted on archival cardstock, this example preserves the reverse composition at the stage where all structural and visual elements had been fully resolved.

The central vignette presents a fully developed architectural and landscape composition, integrating bridge structures, urban elements, and natural surroundings within a controlled and balanced framework. The spatial hierarchy between foreground, midground, and background is clearly defined, reflecting a completed design optimized for clarity, depth, and mechanical reproduction.

Typography and denomination placement are fully stabilized, aligned precisely with the border structure and ornamental framework. The guilloche elements are tightly integrated, forming a cohesive system that supports both visual integrity and anti-counterfeit functionality.

The overall composition matches the configuration later adopted for the issued note (Pick 53), confirming that the reverse design had reached its final form at this stage. The photographic proof therefore serves as a confirmation of the completed layout rather than an exploratory or transitional design step.

A handwritten annotation reading "6-1-67" is present in the lower margin of the mounted proof, executed in pen and positioned along the bottom edge. This annotation represents a later handling or internal reference mark and is physically distinct from the dated reference provided on the grading holder.

Within the broader Luxembourg collection, this proof represents the definitive reverse reference for the ten francs issue, capturing the completed design immediately before specimen preparation and issuance.

The note is preserved in Very Choice New condition, mounted on original cardstock, retaining strong photographic clarity and full integrity of the finalized layout.
