Description and research notes
Numbered specimen from the G100001–G300000 block of the BNZ £1 Red (Pick S212bs), printed by Bradbury Wilkinson & Co., London. Fully executed in final inks with live production numbering and perforated CANCELLED across the signature panel, indicating printer-archive invalidation rather than circulation intent.
The With Serial Number Prefix classification denotes authentic production serials used on specimen pulls for approval, audit and retention. This cancelled variant sits parallel to the G000001–G100000 cancelled series and is scarcer in surviving examples.
Iconography reprises the mature BNZ style — Māori figures flanking the value, maritime trade vignette, and dense ONE field — forming the last private-bank issue sequence prior to Reserve Bank centralization in 1934.
