Mauritius 1940 - Government of Mauritius 1 Rupee Uncut Pair Remainder (Pick 26r1)

This uncut vertical pair of Government of Mauritius 1 Rupee remainder notes is printed on ND (1940) paper and cataloged as Pick 26r1, the remainder form of the Pick 26 issue. Preserved as two complete connected impressions, the piece retains their original vertical sheet relationship, the unprinted gutter between the notes, substantial outer margins, and a particularly broad blank sheet margin above the upper impression. The format records the physical arrangement of adjacent notes before the sheet was cut into individual banknotes. Read more →

United States 1902 20 Dollars National Bank Note First National Bank of Taylorville Illinois CH 3579 large size plain back blue seal serial 21634

United States 1902 – 20 Dollars Large Size Plain Back National Bank Note – The First National Bank of Taylorville, Illinois Charter 3579 (Fr.650-652)

Production details for this charter are instructive. The bank’s large-size notes were printed in 3x10-20 sheet layouts, with one twenty paired to three tens, which inherently limited the number of twenties produced relative to tens. By the time the Series 1929 conversion began, Taylorville closed so early that its small-size allocation was essentially not issued, making any note from this charter-large or small-important for state and national collections alike.
