The central body of the letter records concrete political action already taken by the Patriarch. Cyril IX states that on the previous day, he dispatched a detailed directive to Metropolitan Maximos Sayegh of Beirut-later the famous Patriarch Maximos IV-ordering him to intervene with Lebanese authorities and foreign diplomatic channels to support Hajjar’s nomination. Three additional ecclesiastical deputies were also instructed to advocate on Hajjar’s behalf. Cyril IX further promises that once the new Lebanese President has been elected, he will write directly and insistently to the President with renewed support, employing every available ecclesiastical and diplomatic means to secure a favorable outcome. Palestine and Egypt Lloyd Ltd. played a major role in the interwar maritime and transport economy of the region. Before the widespread shift to air transport and state-controlled port authorities, private forwarding houses managed passenger tickets, cargo manifests, customs clearances, transit documentation, insurance arrangements, and the complex interconnectivity between steamship lines, railway companies, and inland transport services. The firm operated in a geopolitical environment that connected Mandatory Palestine, the Kingdom of Iraq, French-mandate Syria and Lebanon, and the semi-autonomous commercial districts of Alexandria and Port Said. Its branch geography-stretching from Teheran to Jerusalem-illustrates the extent of commercial mobility in the region during the mid-1930s.

All four cheques share the large engraved left-side vignette featuring an obelisk, palm trees, a sphinx, and a pedestal listing the bank’s far-reaching branches across the Mediterranean, Middle East, and Africa. Beneath the vignette, the printer's line 'Société des Publications Égyptiennes, Alexandria' is visible on several examples. The cheques are numbered by hand at the upper left and completed in slanted fountain-pen script typical of the 1920s, with amounts stated both numerically and in longhand French.

The Greek Consulate in Cairo served a large expatriate Greek community that had played a central role in Egyptian commerce, banking, cotton export, and Mediterranean trade since the early 19th century. By 1930, Greeks formed one of the most influential foreign communities in Egypt, maintaining their own schools, churches, commercial courts, and charitable institutions. Consular officers acted as legal intermediaries between Greek nationals and Egyptian authorities, issuing certifications, identity confirmations, residency attestations, and commercial validations. These documents normally appeared in Greek or French-the traditional diplomatic languages used in Greek–Egyptian legal exchange.
