Description and research notes
Discovery AR-prefix approval specimen of the 50 Zlotych banknote from the 1994 Polish issue, bearing serial number AR0000000. The piece documents a previously unrecorded AR-prefix approval-stage form within the production record of the series.
The face preserves the complete 50 Zlotych design prepared for the National Bank of Poland, with the portrait of King Casimir III the Great, the Polish eagle, the denomination PIĘĆDZIESIĄT ZŁOTYCH, the large 50 value device at left, the National Bank of Poland title, and the Warsaw date of 25 March 1994. The printed signatures are those of Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, President of the National Bank of Poland, and Wieslaw Biernatowicz, Chief Treasurer.
Serial number AR0000000 identifies the piece within the previously undocumented AR-prefix approval group. The prefix provides the principal diagnostic connection with the related AR-prefix production material from the 1994 50 Zlotych issue.
Produced by Thomas De La Rue in London for the National Bank of Poland, the note carries Andrzej Heidrich's completed 1994 design with layered guilloche work, detailed denomination panels, ornamental security structures, and the King Casimir III the Great watermark in the left field.
This AR-prefix approval specimen is a direct production artifact from the creation of Poland's 1994 banknote issue. Its AR0000000 serial, final design, Thomas De La Rue production origin, and documented approval-stage format establish a previously unrecorded production form absent from Milczak and Pick.
