This uncut vertical pair of Government of Mauritius 1 Rupee remainder notes is printed on ND (1940) paper and cataloged as Pick 26r1, the remainder form of the Pick 26 issue. Preserved as two complete connected impressions, the piece retains their original vertical sheet relationship, the unprinted gutter between the notes, substantial outer margins, and a particularly broad blank sheet margin above the upper impression. As a genuine note surviving from the compromised 13xxxxx sequence, it provides direct material evidence of the point at which ordinary circulating currency, resistance activity and wartime monetary control intersected in occupied Poland. Documented completed examples of the 1940 500 złotych Series B are known only through approximately the 19xxxxx range, while this unfinished note records a number in the 20xxxxx sequence. No fully completed note from this higher Series B numbering range is presently documented. Its survival therefore provides physical evidence that numbering progressed beyond the range represented by known finished notes, preserving a production sequence that appears not to have reached completed circulation form.
